FAQ

What are the roles in Aniimo?
Five: DPS, Heal, Support, BREAK and REGEN. They appear as filters in the official Aniimo index alongside the element and stage filters.
Why are BREAK and REGEN both stats and roles?
The six stats measure raw numbers on a creature, while the five roles describe its intended job. BREAK and REGEN appear in both lists because a creature built around those stats is classified by them.
Does role limit which element an Aniimo can be?
No. Role and element are separate filters in the official index, so the two axes combine freely.

What are the five Aniimo roles?

The official index sorts every Aniimo into one of five roles. They describe what a creature is built to do in a fight, independently of the element it carries.

  • DPS — sustained or burst damage. Lunara is listed as a holy DPS.
  • Heal — restoring health to the team.
  • Support — buffs, debuffs and utility rather than raw output.
  • BREAK — dedicated stagger pressure, built around the BREAK stat.
  • REGEN — recovery-focused, built around the REGEN stat.

Why do BREAK and REGEN appear twice?

BREAK and REGEN are both stat names and role names, which trips up most players reading a creature page for the first time. The distinction is simple: the stat is a number on that creature, the role is the job the game classifies it into.

Concept Where it appears What it tells you
BREAK (stat) Stat block, alongside HP and ATK How much stagger this creature generates
BREAK (role) Role filter in the index This creature’s purpose is stagger
REGEN (stat) Stat block How much recovery this creature has
REGEN (role) Role filter This creature’s purpose is recovery

A creature can carry a high BREAK stat without being filed under the BREAK role. The role is an editorial classification; the stat is a measurement.

How do you read a creature’s stat block?

Each Aniimo in the official index shows six stats plus a combined Attributes total, which is useful for quick comparison but hides distribution. Two creatures with the same total can be built very differently.

Lunara, as a worked example, lists an Attributes total of 514 across HP 100, BREAK 64, ATK 116, M.DEF 72, P.DEF 72, REGEN 90. The ATK figure being the highest single value is consistent with its DPS classification.

Read the split rather than the total. A high total carried mostly by HP and defences describes a very different creature from the same total concentrated in ATK.

How should roles shape a team?

Cover the roles before deepening any one of them. Because role and element are independent, it is easy to build a roster that is wide across nine elements but consists entirely of DPS.

Beyond combat roles, every Aniimo also carries a Mobility ability used outside combat through Twine, and a Homeland ability that feeds the campsite systems. A creature with a mediocre combat role may still earn its slot on those two axes alone.
