What kind of game is Aniimo?

Aniimo is a free-to-play, creature-catching open-world RPG. You play a Wayfarer exploring the continent of Idyll, catching creatures called Aniimo, and using a mechanic named Twine to take on their form and abilities. It blends collection, open-world traversal, real-time combat and base building.

The Steam store page files it under Action, Adventure, Massively Multiplayer, RPG, Simulation and Strategy, which is a fair reflection of how many systems sit side by side. Player-applied tags lean toward Open World, Creature Collector, Exploration, Online Co-Op and Sandbox.

Where can you play Aniimo?

Aniimo is available on PC, console and mobile with cross-platform play. The official site distributes it through the Aniimo launcher, Steam and the Epic Games Store on PC, plus PlayStation 5, Xbox, the Apple App Store and Google Play. One account follows you across all of them.

Platform Availability
PC Official launcher, Steam, Epic Games Store
PlayStation PlayStation 5
Xbox Xbox
Mobile iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play)

What are the PC system requirements?

Aniimo asks for a 64-bit Windows 10 install and roughly 40 GB of storage at both tiers. The minimum spec targets 2014-era hardware, while the recommended spec moves up to an RTX 3060 class GPU. Both tiers list DirectX 11.

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 (64-bit) Windows 10+ (64-bit)
CPU Intel Core i7-4770 / AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 5 5600+

GPU GeForce GTX 970 / Radeon RX 5600 GeForce RTX 3060 / Radeon RX 6700+

What makes Aniimo different from other creature collectors?

The Twine mechanic is the clearest departure. Rather than sending a creature out to fight on your behalf, you transform into a caught Aniimo and use its kit yourself, which folds collection directly into both combat and traversal.

Three other systems shape the moment-to-moment game:

  • Dynamic spawning. Which Aniimo appear depends on environment, weather and time of day, so the same area reads differently across a day cycle.
  • Egg Heist. A three-player real-time mode that mixes PvE and PvP team play.
  • Homeland. A personal RV campsite you decorate, farm and build out.

Aniimo also ships with 13 language options, including English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Russian, Indonesian, Thai, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish and Vietnamese.

Where should a new player start?

Start with the beginner guide for your first session, then read how catching works before you spend Aniipods. If a term in the interface is unfamiliar, the glossary collects them in one place.
